1987 Donruss

This set consists of 660 standard-size cards. The front of these cards contain a player photo with the Donruss logo and year located at the top. Donruss changed its logo again to the Donruss name in bold type set with a baseball inside the D and the year '87 just below. The players name and position are located at the bottom inside a color strip. The team logo is also found on the front of the card near the bottom. There is a black and gold border on the front. The backs are printed in black ink on yellow and white and contain the typical player bio and stats. Also the backs of the cards in the factory sets are oriented differently than cards taken from wax packs, giving the appearance that one version or the other is upside down when sorting from the card backs. There are no premiums or discounts for either version.

The popular Diamond King subset returns for the sixth consecutive year. Some of the Diamond King (1-26) selections are repeats from prior years; Perez-Steele Galleries had indicated in 1987 that a five-year rotation would be maintained in order to avoid depleting the pool of available worthy "kings" on some of the teams Cards (28-47) are part of the Rated Rookie (RR) subset.
