This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1988 Fleer Baseball All-Stars Cubs Checklist

44 cards in the 1988 Fleer Baseball All-Stars collection included 2 Cubs players.

The size of the cards are standard-size 2 ½ x 3 ½

Basic Features

This boxed set of 44 standard-size cards was produced exclusively for Ben Franklin Stores. The front has a blue background with yellow strips and a nice portrait of a great Cubs player. The card backs are numbered and have yellow and blue printing on white card paper with a small bio and career stats. The box for the cards describes the set as the "1988 Fleer Baseball All-Stars." The set's checklist is included on the back of the set box. Six stickers from the Fleer main collection from 1988 were also included.

This box set is not to be confused with the 1988 Fleer insert set that Fleer put out.
