Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

Number of Cards

1983 Kellogg's has 60 cards which there are 2 Cubs players

Size of Cards

The size of the cards are 1 7/8" by 3 1/4

Basic Features

1983 Kellogg’s set was the last "vintage" issue, and 1983 would be the final time the company would produce cards until 1991. Set could be obtained card by card from cereal boxes or as a set from a box-top offer from the company. Cards discovered with the wrapper intact are worth 25% more. Kellogg's changed things up quite a bit by removing the stars and substituting a border consisting of two rectangles. Also, the cards are slimmer, measuring 1 7/8 x 3 1/4.

The rest of the front included a color image, the popular replica signature, and Kellogg’s logo. At the bottom were the player’s last name and position. The backs were once again printed in black ink and featured the standard statistical and biographical information, as well as a card number, team logo, and Major League Baseball logos.
