Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

For the second year, Topps issued a special glossy set through their hobby dealers. This set is a direct parallel to the regular Topps issue. These 792 cards are differentiated from the regular issue by their glossy fronts and very clear backs. These sets were only available through Topps' hobby dealers. According to original reports in 1985, only 5,000 of these sets were produced.

1985 Topps Tiffany Traded

Identifying Topps Tiffany Cards with the Stars on the Back Among the copyright or somewhere on a back edge, flagship Topps cards from the Tiffany era, have one or two asterisk marks, or stars (*).

The Star Method comes into play more for Topps Traded and Topps Traded Tiffany cards. This is where you’ll find more sets where the star counts don’t align. With both of these have bright backs, this simple trick makes the job of telling the two apart that much easier.
