Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1989 Topps Big Chicago Cubs Checklist

1989 Topps Big has 330 cards which there are 9 Cubs players

Card Dimensions

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

A headshot of the player is superimposed atop an image of the player in-action with his name printed in blocks at the bottom, surrounded by a colored border and a white perimeter. The Topps Company logo appears at the lower right corner of these horizontally printed cards.

Each back shows the player’s name, personal information, card number and Topps logo across the top border, a cartoon depicting a highlight from the player’s pervious season and his year and career statistics block at the bottom

The Topps BIG baseball set is based very loosely on the 1956 Topps set. They are the same size as were the '56 set.
