Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1989 Panini Stickers Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

480 cards in the 1989 Panini Stickers collection included 19 Cubs.

Size of Cards

The size of the cards measure approximately 1 7/8" x 2 11/16"

Basic Features

Featuring players with action and portrait pictures around a white border with boring backs, don't forget they are meant to be peeled and stuck in an album. This is the bottom of the barrel set made of bland uninspired stickers. Lucky for me, there are also some decent stickers here, which I will show at the bottom of this post, including a 1988 highlight of Wrigley Field with its first ever lights for a night game. Is it worth the time and money you'll spend? Yes, if you consider yourself to be an extreme collector.

The following subsets are also included: 1988 World Series Trophy (Foil, 1-2), 1988 Highlights (3-9), 1988 League Championship Series (10-15), 1988 World Series (16-29), 1988 NL Stat Leaders (222-226), 1988 All-Stars (227-244), 1988 AL Stat Leaders (245-249) and 1988 Award Winners (474-480).
