This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1987 General Mills Chicago Cubs

The size of the booklets measures approximately 15" x 3 13/16" when unfolded

Basic Features

This set is sometimes referred to as the "Cheerios" set as it was inserted into cereal boxes in Canadian grocery stores. Each booklet features ten color player portrait shots, five on each side. Printed on thin glossy stock, there are 10 players in each booklet, and they fold up accordion style. The logos on the players' caps have been airbrushed. Under each photo, the players' statistics in English and French are displayed, and they cover their entire career, including the 1986 year. Booklets still in their original clear cellophane protective wrapping are worth more.
