Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1987 Nestle Dream Team Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

1987 Nestle Dream Team had 33 cards, one of which was a Cubs player.

Size of Cards

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

Cards have color-coded borders by era. The first 11 card photos are in black and white and are called the Golden Era (1–11). The other two sets were the AL Modern Era (12-22 red) and the NL Modern Era (23-33 blue). The Nestle set was apparently not licensed by Major League Baseball, and had no team logos, as shown in the photos. Six-packs of certain Nestle candy bars contained three cards; cards were also available through a mail-in offer.
