Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1985 Topps Mini Test Issue Cubs

This blog started with the 1980 Topps set, and I think most of the 80s cards are now featured here. That said, there are a couple of sets I left out, like the 1987 TCMA Collectors Kits Reprints. There are quite a few of those, but I never got into collecting reprints of reprints. The junk era set talked about in this post is probably one of the most valuable from that time, so be careful when investing. Usually, if something looks too good to be true, it’s likely a fake!

Hopefully, you can utilize the checklist included in most posts to simplify tracking your collection. Thank you for stopping by, and good luck on your hunt for the fun-filled decade of the 80s.

Number of Cards

1985 Topps Mini Test have a total of 132 cards which there is 9 Cubs players

Size of Cards

The cards are slightly smaller 2 3/8" by 3 9/32"

Basic Features

Topps tasked its Canadian division, O-Pee-Chee, with producing a test mini set similar to the 1975 set. These cards were made in very limited numbers and were likely intended for destruction, but an employee salvaged them from the trash. Today, this set is recognized as one of the rarest Topps collections ever made, with fewer than 100 copies of each card currently known.

To ensure you don't purchase a counterfeit piece of history, always obtain a professionally graded card from a trusted seller. Graded cards are expected to appreciate significantly in value over time.
