Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1989 Topps Doubleheaders Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

24 cards in the 1989 Topps Doubleheaders collection included 2 Cubs.

Size of Cards

The size of the holders are 1 7/8" x 2 1/2", while the actual cards are only 2 1/4" x 1 11/16".

Basic Features

One two-sided card, sealed inside a plastic holder, is included in every pack. The player's 1989 Topps base card was pictured on one side, while their rookie Topps card was on the other. These are nothing like the "Doubleheaders" cards of the 1950s.
