Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1992 Studio + Studio Heritage + Studio Previews Cubs

264 cards in the 1992 Studio collection included 10 Cubs players and 2 subsets.

Size of Cards

The size of the cards are standard-size 2 ½ x 3 ½

Basic Features

The card has a gold border with the Studio logo on the left, the player's name and team in the center bottom, and the player's position in the lower right hand corner. A colored posed player photo was cut out and superimposed over a black and white action shot of the player. The reverse of the card also includes the Studio logo and the player's team logo. feature player information under five headings (Personal, Career, Loves to Face, Hates to Face, and Up Close). This is for fans to get to know the players more intimately; there are no usual stats or bios, which makes the 1992 Studio Set fun and exciting to collect.

1992 Studio Heritage


Modern-day athletes are seen wearing antique uniforms in a standard-size insert set. In 12-card foil packs, cards numbered 1–8 were dealt at random, whereas cards numbered 9–14 were dealt one per pack in 28-card jumbo packs. The fronts feature sepia-toned photos of the players donning the team's historical gear. On the back, each card has a number with the prefix "BC." There is a brief description of the player's uniform.

1992 Studio Previews

A 22-card standard-sized set was issued by Leaf to preview the design of the 1992 Leaf Studio series. A color posed player photo was cut out and superimposed over a black and white action shot of the player. On the backs, the player's name and team appear on the bottom. feature player information under five headings (Personal, Career, Loves to Face, Hates to Face, and Up Close). The cards say "preview" and "numbered." in the upper right These cards were distributed on a limited basis and are among the harder promotions to obtain.
