Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1988 Donruss All-Stars Chicago Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

64 cards in the 1988 Donruss All-Stars collection included 3 Cubs players.

Size of Cards

The size of the cards are standard-size 2 ½ x 3 ½

Basic Features

The fronts of this 64-card set have a border of solid blue and black and are entirely colored with mostly action shots. On white card stock, the card backs are printed in blue and black, with a number inside a blue star in the top right corner. The player's former All-Star game statistics are displayed. The set was distributed in packs, which also contained a pop-up and puzzle pieces for Stan's Musial.

The "fold-out" cards (aka pop-ups) in this 20-card set are regular size. Full color is used on card fronts. Although cards are not numbered, they are listed on the All-Star checklist card in the same order as the Donruss All-Stars. The backs of cards don't reveal anything about the player. All-Star cards were also included in the packs that contained the set. The cards should not be popped up in order for them to stay in pristine condition.
