Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1980 O-Pee-Chee Chicago Cubs Checklist

1980 O-Pee-Chee has 374 cards which there are 14 Cubs players

Card Dimensions

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

The Topps cards are nearly indistinguishable from these cards. Each front showcases a vibrant, well-centered player photo with a banner displaying their position and team at the bottom. The front also features a slim border in yellow, surrounded by a white border. On the back, the information is printed in both English and French. Unlike Topps, these cards are printed on white stock instead of gray stock. Some cards have "Now with Cubs," indicating a team change.

The cards in this set were produced in lower quantities because of the company's being on strike.
