Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1984-1991 Topps Gallery of Champions Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

12-card sets were issued in every year between 1984-1991 included 5 Cubs players.

Size of Cards

The size of the cards are 1 1/4" by 1 3/4"

Basic Features

These sets of players, who came in aluminum, bronze, and silver variants, were either league champions or award winners. The silver cards are valued between 5X and 10X the value of the aluminum cards, while the bronze values range from 2X to 4X that of the aluminum values. The cards are copies of the Topps cards from that particular year. Additionally, there was a subgroup of pewter cards; I'm not sure if any cubs were available.
