Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1980 Topps Chicago Cubs Checklist

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

The player's card showcases a vibrant, full-color portrait of the athlete, accompanied by a facsimile autograph. Positioned along the top border of the card is the player's name, while the player's position is displayed within a pennant at the top left corner. Additionally, the team is represented by another pennant at the bottom right corner. Flipping the card reveals a treasure trove of player statistics, biographical details, and even a playful cartoon highlighting the player's personality. Notably, numerous rookies make their debut in team threesome cards, adding excitement to the collection.
