Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1988 Action Packed Test Cubs

Basic Features

A six-card test set called 1988 Action Packed was created to demonstrate their technique to Major League Baseball, but the attempt was unsuccessful and no license was granted. Black text was set against a gold border on the fronts. One gold plaque has the player's name above the photo, while another gold plaque has the team name underneath the photo. The card backs are identical to Score issues in that they feature a major league statistical breakdown, team logo, biography, and color headshot all enclosed within a gold border.
