Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1986 Donruss Chicago Cubs Checklist

1986 Donruss has 660 cards which there are 24 Cubs players

Card Dimensions

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

The 1986 Donruss baseball cards have a blue background and have black pinstripes. Images have a diagonal top and bottom with a parallel name plate at the bottom of the photo. Donruss changed the logo to include the actual word "Donruss" and the year 86.

The backs are printed in black ink on blue and white and contain the typical player bio and stats.

For the fifth year in a row, the first 26 cards of the set are part of the Diamond Kings (DK) subset. The artwork for the Diamond Kings was again produced by the Perez-Steele Galleries. Cards (27–46) are part of the Rated Rookie (RR) subset. These cards were distributed in packs containing three puzzle pieces that comprised a Hank Aaron puzzle.
