1982 Cubs Red Lobster

1982 Cubs Red Lobster #23 Ryne Sandberg

This set contains Rynos first cub card and predates his Donruss, Fleer, and Topps Rookie Cards by one year. The cards were co-produced by the Cubs and Chicago-area Red Lobster restaurants and was introduced as a promotional giveaway on August 20, 1982, at Wrigley Field. A facsimile autograph appears on the front, and the cards run in sequence by uniform number. While the coaches have a short biographical sketch on back, the player cards simply list the individual's professional record. The key card in the set is obviously Ryne Sandberg's as it Lee Smith also appears in this set in his Rookie Card year

1985 Leaf Chicago Cubs

This standard-size set of cards was produced in an effort to establish a Canadian baseball card market much as Topps' affiliate O-Pee-Chee had done. The Donruss Company in conjunction with its new parent Leaf Company issued this set to the Canadian market. Aside from card number differences the cards are essentially the same as the Donruss U.S. regular issue of the cards of the same players; however the backs are in both French and English. As in most Canadian sets, the players featured are heavily biased towards Canadian teams and those American teams closest to the Canadian border

Those players selected for and included as Diamond Kings do not have a regular card in the set. The player cards are numbered on the back
