Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1982 TCMA "Hitters," "Pitchers," and "Sluggers" Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

There are 45 cards per set, for a total of 135 cards, of which there are 6 Cubs players.

Size of Cards

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

There are 45 cards in each set, which focuses on the game's legends with "Hitters," "Pitchers," and "Sluggers" and includes both color and black-and-white player photographs with thin red or green borders printed on white. The backs provide information on the players as well as their career statistics. TCMA published Collectors Quarterly, a baseball card magazine, in which it advertised their set and sold it directly via mail order. Tom Collier and Michael Aronstein are known as TCMA. It's a play on the names of the company's two founders. Throughout TCMA's 15-year existence, the business mostly manufactured cards that paid respect to the game's golden age, focusing on teams and stars from the 1920s to the 1950s.
