Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1981 Donruss Chicago Cubs Checklist

1981 Donruss has 600 cards which there are 23 Cubs players

Card Dimensions

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

Donruss produced its first baseball card set in 1981. The cardfronts contain the Donuss logo and the issued year ('81) at the top left corner of the card. The color action photo has a two-striped frame that connects at the bottom around the team name. The players' names and positions appear at the bottom of the card.

The backs contain typical stats and player info and are printed vertically using black print on red and white. The complete set, entitled "First Edition Collector Series," contains some 40 variations that were error-fixed. There are five unnumbered checklist cards in this set.

Card 483 had an error which was corrected.
