Welcome Cubs Fans!

This Blog will be about the decade of 1980 and the hobby of collecting baseball cards, mainly Chicago Cubs. Most of the modern day cards are inexpensive unlike vintage baseball it will be much easier to collect the different sets. So we will start off with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck with thousands of cards in-between. Highlight of this era is 83 Sandberg Rookie

1981 Donruss

In 1981, the Donruss Company of Memphis, Tenn. Produced its first baseball card set consisting of 600 cards using the now standard 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 (inches) card size. The cardfronts contain the Donuss logo plus the issued year ('81) at the top left corner of the card. The color action photo has a 2 stripe frame that connects at the bottom around the team name. The players name and position appear at the bottom of the card. The backs contain typical statsand player information and is printed vertically using black print on red and white. The complete set, entitled "First Edition Collector Series" conatins some 40 variations that were error fixes. There are 5 unnumbered checklist cards in this set.
