This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1981 Cramer Baseball Legends Series 2 Chicago Cubs

There are 30 cards in the 1981 Cramer Baseball Legends set out of a total of 124 cards produced over four years. In the 81 set, there are two notable all-time Cubs players.

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

Cramer Sports Promotions, which subsequently became Pacific Trading Cards, released this collection. It's the first of four 30-card series that built up a 120-card set released over four years, from 1980 to 1983.

The roster is mostly made up of Hall of Fame caliber players, and it is full of stars and legends from the game. Each card features a sepia photograph and a pleasing design. The backs of the cards provide crucial information, a brief player biography, and a major league statistical record.

Basic Features

The 1989 Donruss Baseball's Best collection has 336 standard-size glossy cards. The fronts are green and yellow with the players' names, positions, and teams logo on top. The backs are green and feature vertically oriented career data and information regarding career highlights. The lone major league licensed card of Sammy Sosa from 1989, representing him as a member of the Texas Rangers, is included in this set. While there was an actual 1989 Donruss traded set, Baseball's Best provided some cards with players in different team uniforms than those in the basic set.
