This blog will explore the baseball card collecting hobby of the 1980s, particularly highlighting the Chicago Cubs. Unlike vintage baseball cards, most modern cards are quite budget-friendly. The different sets will be much easier to find. Therefore, with thousands of cards in the mix, we will begin with the 80 Topps and conclude with the highly valuable 1985 Topps Mini Test. The pinnacle of this era was marked by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1983 Topps Chicago Cubs Checklist With Updates

Number of Cards

1983 Topps has 792 cards which 28 are Cubs Players Known as the "circular portrait" set

Card Dimensions

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

The front side of these cards showcases a prominent color photograph, complemented by a smaller portrait positioned at the bottom. Alongside the portrait, you'll find the player's name, team, and position. The card is bordered with team colors, while the Topps logo is displayed at the top of the frame.

On the reverse side, the cards feature standard statistics and biographical details, all set against an orange background. If space permits, the bottom section may include a brief note about the player's career highlights or significant achievements from previous seasons, or even both.

1983 Topps Traded Baseball is a 132-card set. Card fronts have two photos, a large action shot on top and a small circular portrait inset in the nameplate.

Though the design was the same as the base set, the cards were printed in Ireland on white cardstock, which is different from the previous years.
