Welcome Cubs Fans!

This Blog will be about the decade of 1980 and the hobby of collecting baseball cards, mainly Chicago Cubs. Most of the modern day cards are inexpensive unlike vintage baseball it will be much easier to collect the different sets. So we will start off with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck with thousands of cards in-between. Highlight of this era is 83 Sandberg Rookie

1989 Score

1989 - Score contains 660 standard-size cards. The action photos on front are framed by a thin brightly colored border using 6 different colors. At the bottom of the card, the colored border forms a baseball diamond that has the players name and position inside. The players team is located in an arc above the baseball diamond. Full color player close up photos are featured on the pastel colored backs as well as stats, biographical information, team logos and career highlights. Subsets include Highlights (652-660) and Rookie Prospects (621-651).

The cards measure the standard size and show full color on both sides of the card. The cards were produced by Score as indicated on the card backs. The set is subtitled "Rising Star" on the reverse. The first six cards (1-6) of a 12-card set of Score's trivia cards, subtitled "Rookies to Remember" is included along with each set. This set is distinguished by the sharp blue borders and the player's first initial inside a yellow triangle in the lower left corner of the obverse

Young Superstars
The 1989 Score Young Superstars set contains 42 standard-size cards. The fronts are pink, white and blue. The vertically oriented backs have color facial shots, 1988 and career stats, and biographical information
