Welcome Cubs Fans!

This blog will discuss the 1980s and the baseball card collecting hobby, with a focus on the Chicago Cubs. Contrary to vintage baseball cards, the majority of modern cards are affordable. The various sets will be considerably simpler to obtain. So, with thousands of cards in between, we'll start with 80 Topps and end with 89 Upper Deck. The apex of this period was represented by the Sandberg Rookie of the Year in 1983.

1984 Topps Chicago Cubs Checklist With Updates

Number of Cards

1984 Topps has 792 cards, which there are 28 Cubs players and 9 Traded cards.

Card Dimensions

The standard-sized cards are the following dimensions: 2-1/2" by 3-1/2"

Basic Features

The cards feature an action photo along with a small portrait of the player on the front. The team is located in big letters along the left hand border. The players' names and positions are located under the action photo.

The backs of these cards have the team logo, player statistics, and a few highlights. The backs are printed in "hard to read" purple and red ink.

For collectors looking for something more rare, there is the premium 1984 Topps Traded Tiffany set. Produced in much smaller numbers, cards have a glossy finish. 1984 Topps Traded Tiffany was also sold as a factory set.
